Wouldnt be more unfair than any other chapter only title to those who dont have the particular chapter.

So in my opinion theres two ways to "fix" this:

a) Remove all items that allow you to gain both titles on one char in a dishonest way (tomes, XP scrolls and alike)

b) add a legit way to attain both titles on one character

But this does not make a pre-searing glitch impossible. As suggested someone may have left a character in the guild hall from the old GuildHall access glitch, or there may be a new, unknown glitch like we saw with the possibility of item duplication.
The exe hack has been reported for over a week now by several different people. It works client side because it is just enabling a button that apparently isn't checked correctly server side for pre characters. But Anet says 'no it's something we already fixed'.

I will wait and watch.

I think they should announce that ldoa+survivor will get banned and that would put an end to this. Or make a legitimate way to get both.

It would be nice to have a way to reach LDoA with out Death leveling.

A gate to an unused area/areas that has level 15 critters or lvl 20 critters that is only accessible if the character is lvl 13, add a quest/quests to gain access to this area/areas or something.

While I'm at it could there also be an option to go strait to GW:EN after achieving LDoA.

If Anet would implement a legit way to get both titles then LDoA would have no meaning anymore. It was ment for those who stayed long in PreSear and was kind of a gift to all those PreSear-fanatics. Since the title was available most people started a PreSear Char JUST for getting that title.

In my opinion it would not make any sense to implement an area with higher Lvl foes in Pre. The title would make no sense at all then..

I've been reading this thread, and the one on GWO, and I thought I'd clear this up for anyone who thinks otherwise. TexMod cannot make a button to go to the guild hall. Yes Anet disabled it, but that does not mean that it's still there, but hidden. It's disabled in the code...which means you have to hack the code to enable it. Not use a texture modding program. Please don't post stupid theories any more.

As a follow up to this thread. There was an exploit and it's being fixed and offenders are being banned:

Good work, Eric.

just a very simple suggestions. LOCK non-presearing skills so that noone in pre can still use those even if he bought a tome.

this should be really easy to do. please pretty please

Nice to hear something on the "hacking" of GW and the issue of items appearing in pre-sear that are not supposed to be there.

Just one question though, not a conspiracy theory or "ohnoes" worrisome question...

Could this hacking have caused SOME (not all) of the lag?
I understand it would have to be ALOT of players, but even with these players messing around with the code for their own advantages, could it have caused errors on GW server side which result in SOME lag?

Just curious.

Glad they got to the bottom of it! I think anyone who paid through the nose for a monk tome and now has a hard res on their bar pretty much knew what they were doing and deserves a ban.

In honor of all those people saying texmod had something to do with this, I checked it out, and now I can say:

OMG! OMG! OMG! You do it with teh texmod!!!
Here's proooof!
Rurik's back takes yooo to teh guild hallz!!!!

Download Link: RuriksBackside.tpf

[Explanation of sarcasm for the extremely dimwitted: Of course the button doesn't work. This is just a demonstration of how silly the idea that sticking a drawing of a button somewhere makes a functional button really is. Texmod can't add functionality. Period. Friggin Idgits.]

Usually I don't react like this.. but one more bug like this from now to the 31st and I am definetly not buying GWEN...

Why would I buy a game that is becoming more broken everyday.. its not only anets fault.. anet shares the blame with idiots who have been joining the once excellent GW community. Nowadays there are tons of n00bs, hackers, gold sellers, gold buyers, flat out ass*****, scammers, etc etc

Actually, the game is becoming more secure everyday. Yes there have been two recent hacks that snuck in due to some lax quality control on Anet's side. Perhaps the 'new game every six months' thing was taking its toll. All in all, Anet has done a tremendous job keeping this game as free of exploits as they have. This recent hurdle will no doubt serve as a wake up call to the entire dev team causing even more vigilance in the future.

Game has been out for 2+ years and with surprisingly very few hacks... that it took malicious people 2+ years to finally produce a serious break (the duping bug) is actually admirable.

You dont get on the net much huh.

The duping is 2 months+ old since the reconnect feature was added. And theres been lots of hacks before that.

We're not really too worried about the Miniatures. They have zero effect on the gameplay experience or on the game economy. Tomes are a different matter, and therefore we have made them our primary concern as we examine this matter.

That is takes a short period of time to find it, and virtually just hours to action those using it, is something beyond remarkable. I am in awe of those working on this matter.

Oh? Can you prove that? Or are you just talking nonsense? I know the truth; you clearly do not. Remember -- we have the records; we have the facts. We know everything that has gone on, and I assure you, this situation has not existed for two months, and there have decidedly not "been lost of hacks before that." Don't for an instant think that you can talk such nonsense in this community and not get called on it.
